Sensient Technologies has bought Canada ingredients company Mazza Innovation to boost its botanical extraction abilities.
Wisconsin-based Sensient said that the addition of the company is a major step in a evolution of its “seed to shelf” strategy to innovate across the value chain for natural and organic ingredients.
Mazza, which is in Vancouver, is a specialist inside plant extraction technology. Sensient extra that the deal will empower it to meet customer sales of pure ingredients in its food and beverage, nutraceutical, and personal care products.
Sensient Technologies CEO Paul Manning claimed: “This acquisition is extremely significant for Sensient and our customers. Lots of people of our colour and taste expertise and Mazza’s revolutionary technological know-how will allow us to carryout extraction from natural seed sources using environmentally-friendly extraction procedures – including water only removals – instead of traditional chemical chemicals.
“This technology will enable individuals to work with leading food, cosmetic products, and nutraceutical brands to create cost-effective, clean-label products that deliver on consumer expectations for taste, colour, and also functionality.”
Last year, Mazza announced it might expand its plant extract production facility in Delta, United kingdom Colombia, following an investment of CAD 1.1 million ($820,000) in the Canadian government.
Speaking after the investment decision, Mazza Innovation president Benjamin Lightburn claimed: “This investment will help us meet interest in our ingredients and services from personal care, food supplement and food manufacturers worldwide.”
