ADM and Vedan International have connected to create a new line of special tapioca starches and tapioca maltodextrin ingredients intended for manufacturers.

The starches are made for replacements in a wide range of applications just like dressings, sauces, bakery fillings, soft serve, yogurt, soups, bakery, beverages, meat and dry sausages.

According to ADM, any starches help to improve the stability from the products by binding standard water in foods and can as well enhance the viscosity and mouthfeel of products.

Both the actual tapioca starches and tapioca maltodextrin ingredients are generally non-GMO, and the maltodextrin is also available in a healthy version.

Kris DiTommaso, vice-president of ADM’s starch business said: “Over the past few years, ADM has been concentrated on expanding the range of our starch-based ingredient options C especially those that are plant-based Cto offer cleaner label options in addition to solutions for customers.

“Tapioca’s neutral flavor profile allows it to be utilised in a wide range of applications, and we are very happy to now add tapioca-based modified food made of starch and maltodextrins to our growing starch ingredient portfolio.”
